Bethlehem Lutheran Church was organized as a congregation by Danish settlers in May of 1875 in Rock Creek Township (which became the town of Davey,Nebraska.) Worship services were initially held in a schoolhouse. In 1884, a cemetery was laid out near Highway 77 and Davey Road. The decision to build a church adjoining the cemetery was made in 1890. Subsequent to that, the church split and Nazareth Lutheran Church was established in Davey. English language services were begun at Bethlehem in 1930. In 1946 the church was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. The church was rebuilt in 1949 at the edge of Davey. Nazareth formed a partnership with Zion Lutheran Church in rural Ithaca, Nebraska in 1959 and in 1962 Nazareth and Bethlehem merged. The resulting partnership between Bethlehem and Zion continues. In 2003 Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ceresco became the third congregation of a three point parish, but that partnership was ended in 2010. Bethlehem and Zion remain partners in a two point parish.
